There’s nothing more exciting than having an idea, researching, strategizing and collaborating to bring it into fruition. It’s all about finding solutions to problems that will make people’s lives better in some way. This is what I’m dedicated to. People are my passion.
Business.
I didn’t grow-up understanding much about business. It wasn’t something that was talked about in my family or the community at large. Although there were professionals and business owners, I wasn’t tapped into what this truly meant. Thus my strong commitment to sharing what I’ve learned and continue to learn with others.
Technology.
Technology is fascinating. It’s ever-changing, always evolving and unlimited in its application. I would describe myself as a techie only in the sense of my enthusiasm for discovering how to use it for good. It’s not about replacing humanity but aiding it in ways we never dreamed about before. What critical problems can we solve?
Innovation.
Innovation comes in many forms. I’ve always considered myself to be an artist. In my youth I started exploring my creativity through dance. When writing, I immersed myself in words and word patterns. I later discovered the art of filmmaking and telling compelling stories. All these aspects contribute greatly to my inventive process.
Formal Education.
I graduated from NYU receiving a BA in Philosophy and English, De Paul University receiving an MA in Liberal Studies, and UCLA receiving certifications in Film, TV, Video and New Media. I’ve had the distinct pleasure of studying abroad in Senegal, Morocco, Greece, and France.
Literary Works.
I’ve written and designed several educational guidebooks for B~STEM Project programs which include; Product Development, Digital Content Creation and Digital Advertising. I’ve written several scripts for short films, feature films and stage. I’ve also written a collection of poems and essays on various topics.
Current Focus.
I am the founder of B~STEM Project, an organization that teaches young girls and women about business and technology across industries. I am also the co-founder of Journey Forward, an online and off-line platform that empowers women across media and entertainment industries.
Film & Media Projects.
I cut my teeth on writing, directing and producing a short film while attending UCLA and several others followed. My first independent feature was a documentary about my mother’s extraordinary life and battle with cancer. I’ve written, directed and produced independent film, tv and digital media projects.
New Ventures.
I’ve been developing several online educational platforms that will help youth as well as young girls and women engage, learn and grow around business and tech across industries. The goal is to make what we currently do scalable. It’s imperative for us to make an even greater impact.
Social Impact.
Everything I’m engaged in is about educating and empowering people. Through my daily work I’m touching others in what I hope to be significant ways. I’m extremely passionate about quality education, diversity and equity - particularly for those in underserved communities. It’s truly what drives me.
Whatever we envision is possible to achieve.
Yes, I’m very optimistic yet equally practical. I don’t believe these ideals require exclusivity to be true. If we first don’t believe something is possible then what’s the point of pursuing it. However, one must be pragmatic because belief alone is merely a dream. We have to do our research, devise a plan, strategize and work hard. Manifesting a vision is a serious grind. It doesn’t matter how good you are at something or how much you love doing it, it’s challenging. I’ve long past wishing things were easier because it’s a waste of energy. I just ask myself from time to time, “Is it all worth it?” Then I keep moving forward with the same vigor, aspirations and beliefs.
