Experience

EXPERIENCE is very critical to our growth and it is important that we venture out into the world and learn the many lessons of life.  However, I realize that our EXPERIENCE can either work to our advantage or disadvantage.  It is up to us how we utilize the many tools of our EXPERIENCES and whether they will be pearls or stones.  It does not matter what the EXPERIENCE is; what matters is how you process that EXPERIENCE and in turn utilize that EXPERIENCE in the future.  It does not matter where on the scale of intensity the EXPERIENCE falls.  What matters is that we have survived and there is more of life to live.  What matters is that we take a moment to forgive ourself and others, accept that whatever has taken place is in the past and cannot be undone, realize that life will continue to move onward whether we bury yourself in self pity or charge forward into the next EXPERIENCE that lies in wait.

There is not a person alive who has not had a painful EXPERIENCE of some kind.  It is simply impossible to go through life without the pains of life.  So we must embrace the natural flow and stop working against the stream.  We must find harmony and seek balance in our life, and the first step is acceptance.  Yes, we must take time to heal, but healing is an active process, not a passive one.  Just as our EXPERIENCES will change when our mindset changes and we become an active participant, so will healing.  We are not designed so that life simply happens to us, but that we participate in the process.  How do we participate in an EXPERIENCE when we have not orchestrated its occurrence?  Well, we work on our thinking, we continue to build our character and make self-assessments daily, we welcome change and never submit to fear.

When I think of my EXPERIENCES, especially those that have left various scars, I try to look at the good those scars have resulted in.  We must understand that all things can work together for our good; it’s just up to the individual to uncover that which is good.  Do not let our EXPERIENCES become a handicap, a disease, a wall, etc.  EXPERIENCES should open doors and windows, not close them.  Don’t use our EXPERIENCE to punish others, to prevent wonderful things from entering in, to serve as a measuring stick of judgment or to be a basket to hold all your bitterness.  Simply remember that all EXPERIENCES work to our benefit, if this is what we choose.
